This publication, Army Doctrine Reference Publication ADRP 1-02 Terms and Military Symbols December 2015, constitutes approved Army doctrinal terminology and symbology for general use. It builds at the foundational doctrine established in Army Doctrine Publication (ADP) 1-02. The principal audience for ADRP 1-02 is all members of the profession of Arms. Commanders and staffs of Army headquarters serving as joint task force or multinational headquarters must also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine in regards to the range of military operations and joint or multinational forces. Trainers and educators all over the Army will also use this publication. This revision of Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 1-02 compiles definitions of all Army terms approved to be used in Army doctrinal publications, including Army doctrine publications (ADPs), Army Doctrine Reference Publications (ADRPs), field manuals (FMs), and Army techniques publications (ATPs). Additionally it is joint terms appearing within the glossaries of Army doctrinal publications as of September 2015. ADRP 1-02 also lists shortened forms (whether thought to be acronyms or abbreviations) approved to be used in Army doctrinal publications. As well as, unlike the 2013 edition of ADRP 1-02, this revision contains North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) terms appearing within the glossaries of Army doctrinal publications as of January 2014.
